I presume these two countries enjoy some sort of cordial relationship..do they border each other in any case? What is the reaction of the US to Argentina's recent move to place a fee on any Americans crossing over to Argentina? What is this move likely to spur apart from limiting the number of expats?

Buenos Aires is roughly a 9 or 10 hour flight from Miami... so there is no common border.

The fee is likely to have the positive result of Argentine legislators congratulating themselves on how they stuck it to the USA... while actually just sticking it to their tourism industry.

Politically the fee can be understood.. economically it is insane. But then you usually find the Argentine economy to be insane.

I think you are right in your assumption that Argentina and the United States of America has a cordial relationship but that is a pretty common alliance for globally competitive countries with silent economical wars. There is no issue to that.
