I'm intrested in moving to Mendoza or El calafate sometime in 2007. I need some help with buying a piece of land & building a A-frame. Can a non-Argentinan person do such a thing?Thank you

Whether you want to move there or not, if you ever get the opportunity by all means visit El calafate and Mendoza! You'll have one of the best experiences of your life.

just look up land and property in El Calafate or Mendoza and than contact a realitor and talk to them about how you would go about buying land and building a home there.

Did you try looking on the internet for some land that you are interested in buying?

I will be moving to Mendoza in a few months. Do you have any recommendations about meeting and making friends with Mendocinos? I am a soccer fan and look forward to seeing games at the stadium. I am 72 years old and perhaps should look into opportunities for volunteering. Here in Guatemala I am the padrino for a youth soccer tournement with 25 teams playing. Perhaps I could do something like that in Mendoza. Or help out with promoting international sales of Argentine wines. I have a background in international business.

This is all Texas Expat's plan.. keep us all in suspense until he resurfaces again. Or maybe he was just pulling our leg from the get go..

That is quite a long time ago..you should have been able to have relocated and hopefully bought land. The laws governing purchase and sale of land might be a bit different for the expats but I bet if you follow the right channel, all would work out perfectly for you.
Could there be any other recommendations on making friends apart from just saying be vigilant?

I think the original had already bought a property, since it is already 2009!

I am very much sure that just about anyone should be able to move to Argentina. There is not doubt about it, surely.

All i have to say is that Argentina indeed is a great place for expats to try moving in. Or better yet, people should also try to have a vacation here.

There are lots of must see and must do in the beautiful country of Argentina. I wonder how I could be able to come back there, now that I am having some difficulties traveling. I have problems with my legal papers. But you know what, I am contented now by just reading your posts. Thanks a bunch guys and keep those post coming.

Why is that smithy, do you think it is unbeliebable to think that there are lots of must see and do in Argentina? I must say that unlike you, I love this country, it is one of my most favorite countries. There are lots of reasons why I do love Argentina, but you can try reading in the net to know why I claimed Argentina to be one of the loveliest country.
