| Feelings on Kirchner?I am writing an essay about the modern political history of Argentina and I am interested to get some local impressions of Christina Kirchner and her husband. I can't find this information in books as it is very recent and online stuff seems to be mostly in spanish. Can anyone tell me if they are popular with the Argentine people? Are there any opinions polls that measure this? |
| As I understand it - and I am no political expert - Kircher got the Argentinian Presidency at a triple crossroads. Graft and corruption were all over the place, the painful leftover and lack of punishment of the military dictatorships was an insult to the people, and the financial crisis was wrecking Argentina. So he went to work. He cleaned up the Supreme court, put the generals in jail and got the banks to behave and act responsibly. Three home runs. The country gradually settled down, got its self-respect back and got on with its life. I think thatīs why the people love him and so mourned his loss. Maybe somebody can comment! |
