Usually stopover, especially when your flight is delayed can be a truly boring addition to your vacation.Fortunately, at Jorge Newbery Aeroparque (AEP) in Buenos Aires it was just the opposite. In the terminal (after security) we found a great restaurant.
When we ordered, the waiter was concenered whether we would have enough time (we assured him we would)... and after a fairly short wait out came a great ribeye steak dinner and a chicken platter.
The food was not only delicious, but the price was astonishing too, and not what you would expect at an airport. It was a whopping us $11.12 for two!
The trick when you fly into Buenos Aires is to make sure you schedule your incoming and outgoing flights from the same airport. You might arrive at
Ezeiza Intl Ministro Pistarini (EZE) and leave from Jorge Newbery Aeroparque (AEP). That transfer is a less than fun experience.

You really can't beat Argentina Beef!

Wow, I would have never thought of that, and I am being serious. It would be just like to to book tickets and not for a minute think about the AIRPORT codes.I would be searching for a gate that didn't exist.
I guess the good thing is, at least I would know where to find a good restaurant and I could eat for a week for what it would cost in the States!

Actually, the airports in Buenos Aires are pretty sad. Poor wifi. Poor shopping.Try stopping over in Kuala Lumpur... free wifi everywhere in the airport. Grandiose shopping. Plenty of places to eat with a large variety of food. Lots of fresh stuff too. You can even get a massage or go to one of many premium lounges.
Buenos Aires is more like going to a garage at JFK.

Is there any nice places to visit in Buenos Aires?
Most airports are very good at making sure, if you have a delay or a cancellation that your time spent there is enjoyable. I know most airports have places you can eat, shop, or even lay down while your waiting for your flight, which is very helpful and makes time go by faster.

Terry the question is which airports provide enjoyable places to eat, sleep and shop while your waiting for your flight.

For Candy:Buenos Aires, being a large city, had certain areas with their own characteristics and tourist sites. Some of the more interesting places to visit in Buenos Aires are located in certain key areas. In the area known as El Microcentro (the heart of the city) there are many 19th century buildings. North of here you come to the area of Plaza Libertador General San Martin from where you will catch sight of Argentina’s version of Big Ben, the Torre de los Ingeles. Take a walk southwards on the Florida and Lavalle pedestrian streets and you can do some shopping. If it is theatre you are after then head for the lively Corrientes district.

Terry, I also think you are missing the point here. To try and divert us to Kuala Lumpur is being economical with the truth. I might not get a chance to fly to Argentina any time soon but nonetheless, what Gorge has said encourages me to make that step pretty soon.Goerge, I presume that restaurant has with time learnt that being nice is one way of attracting customers..you case might not have been any different.

Located on the southern shores of the Rio de la Plata, Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina, and is also its largest city. The city is often known as the “Paris of the South”, thanks to its European-style culture, and it is certainly an exciting place to visit. Buenos Aires is the birthplace of Tango music and it is also the thriving hub of the Argentine film industry. The city is one of the largest in South America. There is plenty to see and do in this colorful city, even if you’re on a budget.

George, that is being tactful and observatory(scheduling the outgoing and incoming flights at the same place). There seems to be plenty to see and experience in Bueno Aires. That even makes me eager to explore the city.A delayed stopover reminds me of this time, in the TV series 24, where Jack Bauer's daughter got into trouble. They can be harrowing, with nothing else to do but WAIT!
