Ever since I was a little kid, I have always been fascinated by trains and railroads. Now as an adult, I have become quite fond of rail travel. So I was wondering about rail travel in South America, particularly Argentina where I plan to visit a few months from now. What is the biggest rail system there?

Rail travel has been said to appeal to those people who love nature and sightseeing. I was never a fanatic while I was young but I am sure I would be a big fan of rail travel. Do you have any stories of mischief around the rail roads?I would suggest you first get to Argentina then everything else will fall in place. Have you tried any online searches?

Here is what i got from the netTourist railways A number of steam powered heritage railways (tourist trains) are in operation; the Old Patagonian Express (locally known as “La Trochita”) in Patagonia, the Train of the End of the World (Southern Fuegian Railway) in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego and a short run Tren Histórico de Bariloche. A diesel-electric Tren a las Nubes in the province of Salta runs from the city of Salta to San Antonio de los Cobres, (at present this service is being restored).

Thanks for posting that link Maya. I finally got a hint on how is the train system and travel in Argentina really is. I have to say that Argentina's train system is one of the best and that people should try a ride in those trains. If ever I can have the chance of visiting Argentina, I will sure to try riding on its trains. Have a nice day everyone.

Same here. I am also a huge fan of Argentina and everything about it, I think I actually fell in love with this country very much. And just like everybody here, I would like to also come back to the said country for a short or probably long vacation. But anyway, just keep all of those coming in about Argentina. Have a great day guys and hope to hear from all of you soon. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
